Four Israeli soldiers have died after a Merkava was destroyed after fierce fighting for the Ali Taher Ridge.

Hezbollah and Israeli forces exchanged fire overnight in the Ali Taher Ridge area near Nabatieh, one of the most strategically significant positions in southern Lebanon.
According to Israeli reports, an explosive drone struck a Merkava tank carrying the command team of the IDF's 52nd Battalion. The incident killed the battalion commander, Lt. Col. Dor Ben Simhon, along with three members of his team. Israeli authorities are investigating whether the drone entered the vehicle through an open hatch or whether the strike involved another munition type.
The Ali Taher Ridge has become a focal point of recent fighting due to its commanding terrain and reported underground military infrastructure developed by Hezbollah over many years. It is alleged this is a key command centre for Hezbollah and Iran. While Hezbollah has generally avoided large-scale engagements during Israeli advances in parts of southern Lebanon, the group appears to be mounting a more determined defence around key positions in the Nabatieh sector.
Additional clashes were reported along the Kfar Tibnit and Ali Taher axis, with Hezbollah claiming attacks on Israeli military vehicles using rockets, anti-tank weapons and roadside explosives. Lebanese sources also reported Israeli casualty evacuations by helicopter, although the extent of losses remains unconfirmed.
The Israeli Air Force subsequently carried out strikes across southern Lebanon, including areas around Nabatieh. The IDF stated that Hezbollah continues to violate the ceasefire agreement.
Despite ongoing fighting, Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri reiterated Beirut's commitment to the ceasefire framework, stating that Hezbollah would continue to abide by the arrangement as long as Israel does the same. Conditions on the ground, however, suggest that hostilities remain active despite the formal truce. Source
